This pandemic has made us strive to do things differently, whether it is socializing or working. This year the Inner Wheel Club of Bombay Bayview also had to do things a little bit uniquely including its installation.
Our installation wasn't regular for obvious reasons, but nor was it over zoom. We decided to do it in a way that was fun, exciting and would leave a permanent mark. Following the theme of the most watched show during this lockdown,we created 'Bayview Heist' a video where Team 2020-2021 is introduced.
Not only was it super fun to execute, but also a unique experience to watch unfold. My journey in Inner Wheel with my past presidents and my experiences of 10 years was showcased in a video which was released when the Inner Wheel year began 1st July. To keep our members informed we also created a powerpoint document which highlighted our projects for the year and very encouraging messages from my IPP Ritu Kabra, District Chairman Amala Mehta and very own Rotary President Smita Parekh.
For our first GBM we held a coffee and turmeric painting workshop over zoom which required minimal resources but was extremely liberating and an amazing de-stressor. Those members who had not painted since their school years now had a chance to tap into their creative self and unwind for a little while.
Inspite of lockdown restrictions we had a very good attendance for our virtual Zoom meetings.
Our virtual fellowships have been so invigorating and liberating. This month was about ART and CREATIVITY. So essential for us women, as we tend to forget our creative side. By tapping our creativity the workshops gave us some time to reflect and relax.
Colours brought smiles to our faces. Thanks to our host Mallika Maroo for leading this amazing Art Journey workshop. All the members who attended were lost in their imagination. She made each one learn water color techniques and then apply it on stories to create one of our own. It brought out a lot of emotions and nice surprises.
We only put on clothes because of how we feel, or how we think it will make us feel. The secret to personal style is asking how I want to feel today. We had a very interesting workshop CLOSET FIX, conducted by these women entrepreneurs. They told us how we should style ourselves depending on the body type we are, what kind of colours suit us from the colour palette and how should we accessorize ourselves. It was very unique concept and knowing that fashion trends and personal style is not the same thing. Our chief guest District Chairman Amala Mehta also enjoyed as she is very passionate about fashion and clothes.
We also had prizes for the best dressed person. Those who attend from the District were IPDC and AC member Dr Devangi Vakharia, our very own District Secretary Mita Sheth, District Treasurer Pallavi Choksi, Extension service organiser and PDC Mridula Dand, District ISO Prerna Raichur and District editor Lakshmi Singh. Zonal Coordinator Ishita was also present amongst zone 1 presidents and secretaries. Our members really enjoyed this different concept of style and fashion.
We had a quiz at the end and the members and guests won many prizes. Those who won were members Tia, Vinita, Dipa, Kanan, Rituu Jhaveri, Sonia, Mita. Best dressed were District Chairman Amala Mehta and District Treasurer Pallavi Choksi.
We also inaugurated the eroster in the presence of District Chairman Amala Mehta. The E roster was vibrant and colourful. It was designed and created by our member Vinita Maroo's daughter Mallika. It was a fun Saturday evening spent virtually and we had a nice audience for it.
Payal Nangalia always had a passion for cooking right from childhood. However it turned into a professional career with her being nominated in kitchen champion show on colours TV. Thereafter she was appreciated by chef Ajay Chopra by having a signature dish to her name at their outlet. She virtually transported us to Korea to enjoy all the amazing flavors & spices. The demo was so informative with her suggesting options to improve our cooking skills, which we all need at this time. The dishes were plated beautifully too. Definitely worth a try.
OUr 4th GBM was held virtually, as most events are this year, along with the well received talk on organ donation by Jaya Jairam and our very own skit on the same topic.
This dance skit video on Organ Donation Awareness was directed, conceptualised and choreographed by Urvi Vora, and is available on both our YouTube and Facebook channels.
