Our first project, in collaboration with Roshni Foundation, was a medical camp held in Jamshet village, Sawarpada at Dahanu, where we tested 300 children. This was a skin and eye camp and our aim was to detect lazy eye condition which if not detected can lead to blindness in later years. Also the children in this area have a lot of skin problems so we had a skin doctor at the camp, a hygienist and a nutritionist also gave talks on importance of both things.
Medicines were also distributed as required and the entire cost of the project was Rs.40,000. Our club likes to work in the rural areas as these are far more neglected compared to urban. We intend to do these camps regularly and dispense prescription glasses too, where required by the children. Our aim is to check and treat around 2000 children over the period of this 1 year.
We distributed self care kits and slippers through Alert India to patients with leprosy and deformities. Every year we collect Rs 500 as birthday contribution from our members and we use this for a meaningful project. This project was conducted from the birthday collection. The cost of the project was Rs. 40,000 and 70 people benefited from these kits.
We donated key books to class 5 and class 8 children in a BMC school in Colaba.
Gave tablets to special children of Advitya which is a center for children with Downs Syndrome, Autism, and Cerebral Palsy.
7 fans, lights and a water filter was given to Access Life Foundation in Chembur which provides a home for the parents of a children suffering from cancer so the parents can fully focus on taking care of their child and do not have to worry about other things.
We gave an industrial washing machine worth 2.10 lakhs Sangopita which is a center providing lifetime shelter to children who are disabled physically and mentally and sensory impaired or autistic.
We planted 3000 saplings along with our Rotaract club in Dahanu which will benefit the entire village
We donated a pottery wheel to Jagritu Palak Sanstha in Thane which provides vocational training to mentally disabled children to secure their future.
We supported Rotaract club of Bombay Bayview to plant 200 Kesar mango saplings in Dahanu village. The trees were planted outside houses of adivasi children, in schools and other open spaces. In a few years be able to enjoy Kesar mangoes with their families for years to come.
Due to heavy rains in Mumbai, lot of people lost their shelter and food supplies. We distributed plastic sheets and food to the people affected with rains near Tardeo RTO and near JJ Hospital.
The donees were identified by an NGO PEHCHAN. Thanks to Hemangi & Sonali Bothra and Archana Goenka for their contribution. The people had such smiles on their faces on receiving simple things like plastic sheets and basic ration supply.
Priyanz is a day Care centre for autistic and slow learner kids. We are associated with this organization since last 7 years. We have donated one computer for e-learning & computer training for the special kids of Priyanz.
We did Annapurna at old age home. This was sponsored by Mita Sheth. About 100 elderly were given a wholesome meal.
We are donated equipment required for the skull cancer surgery to Tata Hospital. This equipment cost us app. Rs. 1 Lakh. This was done at the Homi Bhabha department of Tata hospital.
We have donated Rs 2.5 lakhs towards the community center of Safale - the District's Rural Golden jubilee project. We have sponsored the stage in this centre. 60% of work is already completed.
We had a superb career counselling event at SS Sahaney school. We had 25 professional from different fields including a few members from our own club who came to guide children on their future career choices. The event was very well appreciated by the school and the parents of the children. We had a concluding session after the Career Fair with the 10th std of S S Sahaney school on Friday 27th where our club member Mona Babla did a Dream Board and a Vision Board Workshop to bring clarity to their career dreams and to set their future goals.
We arranged for a teacher training workshop in Dahanu, which was a super hit. These teachers never experienced this kind of training ever. Teacher's response was amazing. More than 57 to 60 teachers came. The trainer was highly appreciated.
We conducted our first eyes & skin care camp in July in Dahanu. During the follow up after one month, the results of the treatment given in the camp were very satisfying. So we conducted another skin care camp in another school in Dahanu only, where the doctors checked 160 children and gave medicines as required. It was very much required there as the skin problem is rampant in adivasi people especially children and hardly any treatment is available. About 300 children benefitted.
On our Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, and in solidarity with the Government's initiative to ban single-use plastic from 2nd October, we had a session on Environmental Sustainability and Waste Management in S S Sahaney school with 106 children.
Ritika Gadoya, a lawyer and social worker in the waste management and sustainability space, delivered the session and explained the waste problems in our country to the students how they could make their surroundings much cleaner.
We donated an AC to the psychiatric department of NAIR HOSPITAL. They have regular workshops for patients and parents of children who are challenged and the air conditioner will make the 6 hour class more pleasant.
As a Diwali celebration, we distributed around 2,000 cotton shirts to the adivasi kids of Dahanu on Friday morning. We gave each kid banana and biscuits also. The joy on the faces of the kids after wearing the shirts. This is the first school, where we distributed shirts, banana, biscuits and games.
Distribution of gift hampers to the cancer patients of Jaslok Hospital, to wish them Happy Diwali and a speedy recovery.
We celebrated Diwali with a party for the children at Khel Khel Mein in Worli. The kids had a really good time and enjoyed themselves so much! It was a sight to see them delighting in the magic show.

Zone 1 conducted introductory session on "Life Skills - Surakshit Bachpan" at Aryan School Girgaon, with students of the 7th std. This session was conducted by Yamini - IWC of Shivaji Park, Dhruma - IWC of Hanging Garden and Anuja - IWC of Bombay Bayview, to help children recognise their emotions & equip them to strengthen them.
We held the second round of shirt distribution to the remaining kids in Dahanu yesterday, along with bags and the game of chess. The beautiful smiles of these kids spread joyful colour to our day!
Innerwheel District 314 has built a community center in collaboration with SHED(Society for Human and Environmental Development) in Saphale as the Golden Jubilee rural project. It will benefit 92 villages and around 2 lakh villagers.
Activities such as health check ups, counselling for various problems, skill development, mobile health clinic, mass marriage, vocational training, guidance to farmers etc. will be carried out for the villagers' overall development.
We did a educational talk on good touch bad touch at S S Sahaney scool in Khar. We also conducted a class on vedic maths for children of class 7 onwards. Altogether 350 children benefitted from this program.
For the first time our Innerwheel Club of Bombay Bayview did a project under District Grant. We donated an endoscopy machine costing 5.6 lakhs to the OPD department of Tata Memorial Hospital, jointly with Rotary Club of Bombay Royales.
We helped with required assistive aids to the children with different neurological disabilities like cerebral palsy, spina bifida etc. It will help in mobility and preventing further disability in these kids. The parents were so grateful to Bayview.
We replaced a water motor and completed required plumbing work at the school for the special kids in Airoli, New Bombay. Their water motor was broken and they urgently required new one.
Our annual art competition for NGOs, which is our flagship project, was held on 26th January at Kamla Nehru Park. Every year the children look forward to this day of fun, music, drawing, food and laughter, and this year we met those expectations fully!
Five NGOs took part with a total of 130 children in the competition. The theme was abstract and the children excelled in their creativity and imagination. They went home with goodie bags full of school supplies, stationary, chocolate, candies, cake and other snacks.
IWCBB donated 15 CPUs and 3 laptops, to different NGOs, which will use these in their different vocational training programs.
We gave these for the Adivasi and other deserving kids of Roshni Foundation, Samatol Foundation, Supervasi and Jagruti Palak Sansthan.
Some of their apprentices are eagerly designing machines in 3D modeling software. Coming from a background of educational poverty, this support is important to improve their abilities.
We gave a Xerox machine and printer to Priyanz, the day care centre for special needs kids. This printer will come in handy to make many teaching aids and worksheets for the kids, to assist them in their upcoming exam as well as during the year in their daily classwork.
Today we donated 4 wheelchairs to Dayanand hospital at Talasari.
We inaugurated a project of Beautician course with the registration of 20 girls in ULhasnagar. Along with that, we distributed small scale business materials to needy, poor but motivated women as part of our encouragement for self employment at the office of NGO Jyot at Ulhasnagar. These ladies have promised to return back the money given to them @ at least Rs 100 per month from their income.
Distributed ration to the people of Anand Nagar, Jogeshwari West opposite to Mega Mall. They had received only rice from the government. So we gave other requirements to them. It was IWCBB's good fortune that we could help them with our limited resources.
We donated two infrared digital thermometers and distributed food to the members of Paraplegic Foundation at Sion.
Rations and grains were distributed to the blind and physical handicapped families at Municipal Grounds, Sewree.
We distributed raw food packs comprising of dal, salt, spices, potatoes and onions at Palghar Vikramgarh Taluka. We did this distribution through Suhrid foundation with whom we are associated since last six years.
We donated 30 PPEs, 5,000 face masks, and food grains to app. 2000 families as well as food to birds & animals too, in different interior areas of Maharashtra and Goa.
Five thousand face masks were provided to the Navy people as they were in dire need of masks at the beginning of the lockdown.
We distributed food grains to 50 families of Mahatma Phule Nagar, Bandar pada, Kansal Nagar in Ambivali, next to Kalyan.
We gave rice, dal, salt and onion to the very poor 20 families of Osarwadi village in Palghar district, who hadn't yet received their rations from the government.
We distributed foodgrains in Geetanagar and Ambernath.
Distributed food grains to 110 families in 2 interior villages of Karjat-Chinch Khambla and Vadvihir Aadivasi Pada, where people had nothing to eat due to lockdown.
We donated PPE kits(protective gears for the medical staff), food grains to poor families in Ambernath, Karjat, Dadar, Tata Hospital and Arpora and Nagoa in North Goa, through our regular NGOs and one Gurudwara.
